Harbor Light Content Group specializes in faith-based, message-driven books that are designed for clarity, impact, and long-term relevance. This includes areas such as Christian living, church leadership, devotionals, theology, memoir, and faith-informed fiction.
We evaluate each project based on its message, structure, and alignment with our publishing standards. Not every manuscript is the right fit, as we maintain clear boundaries around the types of content we produce.

Yes. We guide first-time authors through each stage of the process, from writing and book branding to product development, print setup, distribution (including copyright, ISBN, and barcodes), and marketing strategy. If it is part of the professional publishing process, we can help. Contact us for a customized quote.
Start with us! A simple email or form submission through our website. From there, a member of our team will connect with you to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation to understand your writing goals and book project.
This initial step is important. It allows both you and Harbor Light Content Group to determine if there is a strong fit before moving forward. Taking the time to do this correctly sets the foundation for your book’s message, development, marketing, and long-term success.
The next step is evaluation and then professional book development. Get started by sending us an email or form submission through our website. Your message, book’s purpose, and publishing goals will be be discussed before moving into any book contract, design, production, or marketing plan.
Do not rush this stage. A finished manuscript is not a finished book. You might be finished with your manuscript; the publisher is just getting started.
No. A professional book publishing offer, or individual book service quotes (cover design, editing, interior layout, etc.), requires a brief consultation first. We assess first, then provide clear, accurate guidance and next steps.
You will receive a clear, upfront price quote after we gather details about you, your writing goals, and your book project. Without consultation, pricing is speculation, not professional publishing.

Book Publishing Pitfall:
Independent Publishing gives you full control. We provide professional book development services (cover design, editing, interior layout, etc.) on an à la carte or full-project basis.
You supply your own ISBN, and we guide you on uploading to Amazon, Ingram, or other distributors. Once complete, all files are delivered to you. No Harbor Light imprint is placed on the book, and you retain full control of royalties and distribution.
Co-Publishing is a structured partnership. We develop, position, and publish the book with you. Your book is released under the Harbor Light Content Group ISBN and imprint.
We manage production, upload through our distribution systems, and work with you long-term on a structured marketing plan and execution. Royalties are distributed quarterly. This commitment is for dedicated, long-term author-publishing relationships only.

We offer two paths: Independent Publishing Services and Co-Publishing. Each path is structured differently based on your goals, timeline, level of involvement, and long-term vision for your book.
Book Publishing Pitfall:
Many companies blur publishing models to upsell services or create confusion. Understanding the industry terms matters:
1. Independent / Self-Publishing
(Also called: author publishing, direct publishing, DIY, subsidy, vanity)
→ You control the project and carry the responsibility.
2. Co-Publishing / Hybrid Publishing
(Also called: partnership, collaborative, joint venture, subsidy, and vanity publishing)
→ A structured partnership with shared responsibility and investment.
3. Traditional Publishing
(Also called: trade, commercial, legacy publishing)
→ Publisher-funded, highly selective, competitive, and the publisher takes the rights.
Mislabeling these models is one of the most common ways authors are misled.
Yes. Marketing is a shared responsibility. Every book and every author is different, so we do not use one-size-fits-all marketing. We guide you through a structured, step-by-step process based on what your book actually needs.
Within our Independent Book Publishing Services, we offer three levels for book marketing: Guide, Build, and Publicist, ranging from strategy to full campaign execution.
Level 1: Guide
We guide you through the marketing process from start to finish and help you make the right decisions at each stage. You execute.
Level 2: Build
We guide and build with you. We stay involved from start to finish, working alongside you to develop and implement your marketing system and campaigns.
Level 3: Publicist
At the Publicist Level, Harbor Light Content Group serves as your long-term, professional book publicist. This is a top-tier book marketing, structured, strategic approach to building lasting media visibility and market presence. Not a short-term checklist.
In Co-Publishing, we handle extensive marketing strategy, messaging, campaigns, printing, and international distribution. The author is still expected to remain actively involved and support the marketing effort.
We provide structured, professional support based on where you are and where you want to go. We do not sell quick results.
Book Publishing Pitfall:
Most “marketing packages” are surface-level checklists with no real strategy or measurable impact. Marketing does not fix a poorly developed book; it amplifies what is already strong. Quick campaigns do not build long-term results.
Effective marketing requires structure, consistency, and time. Expecting someone else to “make your book sell” without your involvement is unrealistic. Publishers who imply this are not being honest. Long-term success requires author participation, consistency, and effort.
Yes. Professional editing improves clarity, structure, readability, and overall credibility. Most authors cannot edit their own work at a professional level.
We strongly recommend at least two levels of editing: a content edit and a copy edit, completed by trained book editors working within the same team to maintain consistency. Our standard aligns with the Chicago Manual of Style (17th edition or later). To see what type of editing your manuscript needs, submit your manuscript for a customized quote.
At Harbor Light Content Group, all book development and editing is handled by experienced, U.S.-based professionals. We do not outsource overseas, and we do not use AI as a replacement for human editors.
As more publishers shift toward AI-edited manuscripts (often without authors realizing it), we remain committed to a higher standard. Professional editing requires nuance, judgment, and an understanding of voice and message that only skilled human editors can provide.
No. Every manuscript at Harbor Light Content Group is edited by experienced, U.S.-based professionals. While some publishers now rely heavily on AI for full manuscript editing, we believe quality editing requires human insight, discernment, and the ability to preserve an author’s unique voice, something AI cannot replicate.
We can support every phase of the publishing process, including coaching, ghostwriting, product development, design, production, and marketing.
You provide the message and direction—we bring the professional trade publishing experience and expertise to transform your manuscript into a well-written, professionally designed, market-ready book. The strongest results come from active collaboration.
At Harbor Light Content Group, all product development is handled by our U.S.-based team. We do not outsource editing, design, or production services overseas.
Our Independent Publishing Services are à la carte. You can engage us for individual services or full project development, depending on your needs.
Co-Publishing is a structured partnership, not a service package. Here, both author and publisher are actively invested in producing a high-quality, market-ready book with long-term impact.
Every manuscript is different. Cost depends on the level of editing, design, structure, and product development required. Lower-cost approaches almost always result in lower-quality books.
Our book publishing process is simple and transparent. Contact us by email or through our form to schedule a consultation. We will review your manuscript and follow up with professional feedback, a recommended publishing plan, clear pricing, and next steps.
A professional project requires alignment with established publishing industry standards.

The timeline depends on your goals, manuscript condition, and development needs. All product development is handled by our U.S.-based team. We do not outsource work overseas.
At Harbor Light Content Group:
Independent Publishing Services
This is à la carte. Individual services (such as a book cover) require less time than a full project and are typically completed within a few weeks or less. When multiple services are involved (book cover, editing, design, layout, assistance with post-production), most projects are completed within approximately three months. We can adjust pacing based on your schedule and we offer Fast Track options when appropriate.
Co-Publishing
This is a structured, high-end publishing process. We do not rush this model or offer Fast Track options. It requires planning, development, and coordinated execution from start to finish. Most co-publishing projects are completed within three to six months under normal circumstances.
Not sure which option is right for you? Schedule a free consultation and we’ll walk you through the best fit.
Book Publishing Pitfall:
Sales depend on positioning, audience, and consistent marketing, not just publishing. Every book and every author is different, so we guide you through a clear, step-by-step process based on what your book actually needs.
With over twenty years of publishing experience, we’ve seen books travel the world and generate millions in sales, and we’ve seen others stall. To us, marketing is a disciplined, data-driven process (like science) that requires grit.
Strong sales happen when the author, publisher, printer, and distributor are fully aligned and working together to build strong momentum over time. This does not happen overnight. It requires short-, mid-, and long-term planning, along with disciplined execution.
The most effective approach is to work with a team that understands how to position and move a book globally. Book success starts with the right positioning. Schedule a consultation and we’ll help you assess your book’s potential.
Yes. Distribution makes your book available globally, but it does not create demand or drive sales.
At Harbor Light Content Group:
Independent Publishing Services
This is à la carte. We return all final files to you and guide you on uploading to Amazon, Ingram Spark, and other retail and distribution platforms as needed.
Co-Publishing
We handle print and global distribution. Your book is placed in Amazon and Ingram Content Group’s publisher distribution system, with additional distribution channels applied as appropriate to your book’s direction and audience. Your book will be positioned among the largest printing, warehousing, and distribution systems in the world.
Looking to get your book into distribution? We’ll help you present it with the quality it deserves. Get in touch to start the process.
Book Publishing Pitfall:
“Amazon publishing” is often marketed as a sales solution. It is not. Distribution creates availability, not sales. In today’s market, your book needs more than Amazon.
